We are currently seeking a Senior Estimator with extensive experience in Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) projects to join our team.

Responsibilities:

Pre-Construction:

• Lead the preparation of detailed and competitive project estimates, including analyzing project plans, specifications, and other bid documents.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for earthwork, asphalt, concrete, drainage, utilities, and other components of heavy highway projects.
• Evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with project requirements.
• Develop comprehensive cost analyses, including labor, materials, equipment, and indirect costs.
• Research and maintain an understanding of current market conditions, pricing trends, and availability of materials and labor.
• Collaborate with project managers and field teams to identify value engineering opportunities and mitigate potential risks.

Proposal Development:

• Prepare complete and accurate bid proposals, including writing detailed scopes of work and assembling all required documentation.
• Work with internal teams to ensure all proposals align with company goals, capabilities, and long-term strategies.
• Assist in identifying and pursuing new project opportunities by reviewing RFPs, attending pre-bid meetings, and maintaining relationships with clients and agencies.

Post-Bid Coordination:

• Review awarded project scopes to ensure alignment with the bid package and contract requirements.
• Support the transition from estimating to operations by providing detailed breakdowns of costs, assumptions, and project insights.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in heavy civil estimating, specifically highway, road, or infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency in estimating software such as HCSS, Bid2Win, or similar.
• Extensive knowledge of FDOT standards, specifications, and design manuals.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify cost-saving opportunities while ensuring quality and compliance.
• Experience in subcontractor solicitation, bid analysis, and proposal development.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple bids and deadlines.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across various teams and departments.
• Proven track record of preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates.
